CBD FOR FITNESS: DOES IT REALLY WORK?

Nowadays, it seems like you are an exception if you don’t closely monitor your fitness. As proof, every single one of my close friends is into some sort of exercise or dietary plan. One is into TRX and juicing. My other friend swears by intermittent fasting. I have a best friend who spends three hours of boxing four times a week. I practice yoga almost on a daily basis. We should consider this as a win. With morbidity and heart diseases on the rise across all age groups, following a healthy lifestyle could bode well for our lifespan.

But whenever we get together, it never fails to come up with the topic of improvement. Yes, we live an active and healthy life. However, with social media dominating a majority of our free time, we can’t help but think if we should be doing something more. Or maybe looking a certain way, or pushing ourselves harder. It’s a lot of pressure, and I’m sure we’re not the only one who feels it. We are always on the lookout for better ways to perform in our exercise or the next diet plan that we can rally behind, and we share it with each other. We even have a group chat dedicated to sharing our online finds.

One interesting link was shared one time, and it was to an article raising the question if CBD can be used for better fitness results. It didn’t stir up any reaction among my peers, but it piqued my interest somewhat. I have used marijuana before and would use it should the occasion arise, but I have never really associated it with health and fitness.

It was only ever used to relax when friends gather. It got me thinking about its effects on me and how it applies to, say, my yoga practice. For one thing, meditation won’t be too much of a struggle when I’m high. And I won’t feel as many aches and pains when I’m doing certain poses. Maybe there is some credence to using CBD to improve fitness.

Why CBD is Linked to a Healthy Lifestyle

For those of you new to cannabis and its products, CBD, or cannabidiol, is a compound in marijuana that offers a lot of benefits to the body. It is an anti-inflammatory compound, it helps with anxiety and stress, and it can even be used for pain relief. It does not, however, makes people high. That’s the job of THC or tetrahydrocannabinol.

In fact, this is one reason why CBD is receiving a lot of attention because it is the psychoactive effects of cannabis that put people off from consuming cannabis products. Additional studies, however, is required to delve deeper into its long term effect but for now, it seems CBD might be the solution we’ve all been looking for at stepping up our fitness routines.
