corona Virus

A global pandemic has gripped the entire world and has put many cities on lockdown. Businesses cease operation, people asked to stay home, travels halted all in an effort to halt the spread of the virus. With all this chaos and uncertainty looming over humanity’s head, many people can’t help but ask if there is a solution to all this. Are we close to a cure? A vaccine? Do we have alternatives?

A lot of people have been asking if CBD, cannabidiol, could be the cure that we are looking for to fight the coronavirus. The short answer is: we don’t know. It is simply too early to tell. To prove the viability of CBD as a cure for coronavirus, a lot of research has to be done and that takes time and resources. The virus has only been recently identified in the past couple of months. The entire world’s efforts are focused solely on preventing its spread. Very little is spent on researching alternative cures.

Despite the lack of studies to definitely prove that CBD can cure those afflicted with the virus, we can look to CBD’s properties to see if it has anything to offer.

Cannabidiol is one of the many compounds that are present in the cannabis plant. It has been heavily investigated in recent times ever since the government around the world has lifted some of its restrictions towards the plant. We do know that CBD can help with pain management. It is also a good anti-inflammatory. It’s been used to help people who suffer from anxiety and depression. But the interesting fact about CBD is it also has anti-viral properties.

When it comes to the regular flu, CBD has been found to boost the immune system of the body, help ease some of the symptoms, and replace pain medications and sleep aids. But CBD alone can’t do it all. It is only one piece of the whole puzzle. Other measures need to be followed to help an individual recover from the flu.

CBD can act as a bronchodilator which means medication that can open the airway to the lungs to promote good ventilation. That’s not an excuse to light up a blunt or take out the bong. But for those already suffering from phlegm and coughing fits, taking a tabletop vaporizer or taking a few drops of CBD oil can ease up the airway and help us breathe a little easier.

A study has been conducted to determine if CBD can be used to fight bacterial infection. In a study released in February, it’s been determined that CBG, or cannabigerol, is effective at fighting antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. A lot more work has to be done to conclusively prove these findings but already many are hailing this to be a win towards the therapeutic use of cannabis and its compounds.

Pain reliever

CBD is quite popularly used for pain relief thanks in part to its anti-inflammatory properties. Anyone who has ever bought CBD from a credible source other than Bmwo Canada can attest that the effects vary between products. It depends on the dosage of the compound as well as the presence of other cannabinoids like THC and terpenes.

As for now, there is zero proof that CBD can cure anyone afflicted with coronavirus. There is also no proof that it can prevent one from contracting the virus. At these uncertain times, what’s more, important is to rely on facts released from credible sources. Now is not the time to be experimenting with an alternative cure for this global pandemic. If cannabis companies want to find out if their products offer any value to what we’re facing now, it’s important that they go through proper research and fact-finding procedure before making any therapeutic claims.

What the world needs is solidarity in order to combat this global threat that’s disrupting everyone’s lives on a global scale. We need to take measures to keep us and those around us safe and free from infection. If taking CBD has been part of your routine to address an already existing medical condition, then, by all means, continue to take it. But don’t rely solely on the product to help fight off the infection, nor will CBD help prevent one from getting infected.
